Andreas Döltgen

I grew up Deaf and thanks to my family I was raised with sign language and its culture. After graduating from high school, I decided to study these topics on an academic level as well. Therefore, I joined the bachelor’s degree program „Deaf Studies" (language and culture of the Deaf) at the Humboldt University of Berlin in 2008. I successfully completed my studies with a linguistically oriented Bachelor thesis called „The Position of Modal Verbs in utterances of the German Sign Language – an empirical study".

I live in Berlin and work partly as a freelance consultant and developer in different projects with sign language. On the one hand I am commissioned by institutions and organizations, on the other hand I realize my own projects.

Since August 2019 I am part of the sign language team at the Georg-August-University in Göttingen. As a research assistant, I work for the project „Innovative Teaching and Learning Concepts: Innovation plus". This project involves the development of an eLearning platform for the German Sign Language (DGS). It will be available for students at the Georg-August-University Göttingen to use and help them with their DGS-classes.
