Student Assistant (all genders welcome)


in the group of Prof. Dr. Axel Munk. Starting date is as soon as possible. The position is offered with regular working hours of up to 10 hours/week and can be filled at the earliest possible date.

Your tasks:
• You read selected, new publications on algorithms in the areas of optimal transport, Wasserstein distances and barycenters
• You implement various methods and compare them against established methods

Your profile:
•You are enrolled at the University of Göttingen, study mathematics, physics or computer science and you haven’t yet obtained a master’s degree
• You have programming knowledge of R and preferably C++
•You have a good background in Mathematical Statistics and Optimization
• You are proficient in written and spoken English
• You like to work in a team

The Research Training Group 2088 "Discovering structure in complex data" at the University of Göttingen is looking for a

in project A7 supervised by Prof. Dr. Stephan Huckemann. The aim is to capture 3D images of fingerprints as ground truth to model realistic distortions of fingerprints pressed on scanners.
Starting date is as soon as possible. The first phase of this long-term project is planned for 3 months with 20 hours per week. An extension is possible.

Your task:
• Support for the development of a smartphone app for image processing in biometrics

Your profile:
• You are enrolled at the University of Göttingen and you haven't obtained a master's degree yet
• You have good knowledge of Android and/or IoS programming
• You like to work in a team
