Dr. Pedro Barros is a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of International Economic Policy at the University of Göttingen. He currently holds a Stephan Klasen Fellowship and, from 2027, will continue his research at the Chair as a Humboldt Research Fellow. His research lies at the intersection of environmental and development economics, focusing on the relationships between economic development, institutions, natural resources, and environmental sustainability. He combines economic theory, causal inference, remote sensing and machine learning to study tropical deforestation, biodiversity conservation, land-use change, natural-resource extraction, and the environmental and socioeconomic impacts of public policies in developing countries.
