„Ecclesia reformata semper reformanda“

The reformed faith is – next to the Lutherans – the second major denominational family of Protestantism. On the occasion of the new appointment of the chair in Reformed Theology the Faculty of Theology would like to reemphasize the importance of the protestant churches founded in the wake of the Reformation in Zurich and Geneva. Therefore the Faculty of Theology in cooperation with the Evangelische Hochschulgemeinde and the Ev. Stadtakademie will host a lecture series during the Winter-Semester that will be of interest to students of Theology, other faculties and the interested public.

Renowned scholars of the discipline from Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Africa and the United States will investigate the question how to identify the special aspects of reformed Protestantism today. Next to contemporary issues of academic theology, the lecture series also addresses the impact of reformed theology on architecture, music, and politics. Additionally, representatives of reformed theology sketch out the public relevance of reformed theology today. Thus, the characteristic formula ecclesia reformata semper reformanda displyas its relevance for the presence in the interplay of social change and the processes of inner-church reform of contemporary protestantism.
