Sub-Project: Grammar

In the sub-project "Grammar", the first reference grammar of German Sign Language (DGS) will be written. The project will implement the blueprint developed by the COST Action project SignGram (Action IS1006), which provides a comprehensive guide to sign language grammar writing. The grammar will comprise detailed grammatical descriptions - including concrete examples - of the major components phonology, lexicon, morphology, syntax and pragmatics. The reference grammars will be hosted by a digital infrastructure which is available online. The main aim of this project is to provide the first digital reference grammar of DGS and other European sign languages. Therefore, the individual components of the grammar will be systematically investigated also using empirical methods and made available for a general audience.
