Curriculum Vitae


As part of the Research Training Group 2654 of Sustainable Food Systems at the University of Göttingen, Sukanya Basu joined the Chair of Social-Ecological Interactions in Agricultural Systems as a doctoral candidate in September 2021. She holds a Masters’ degree in Natural Resources and Governance from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Hyderabad, India), where she focused on urban parks and environmental justice. She was employed as a Researcher at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru from 2019 where she conducted her research on socio-ecological interactions on urban trees and street vendors in Hyderabad city, India.

Research Foci


Sukanya’s primary research interest is in socio-ecological factors in food systems, resilience, sustainability, livelihood and environment and commons in the context of cities from global south. Her research interests include indigenous food systems and natural resource governance.
