Göttingen International
The University of Göttingen is high reputed throughout the world of academia and research. Its partnerships within the Coimbra Group and the U4 Network, active agreements running with institutions of higher education in ninety countries, a raft of scholarship/fellowship opportunities for international students and researchers, and more than fifty English-language Master and Ph.D. programmes – these offer some indication of the University’s strongly international stance.
The International Office
... seeks to increase further the proportion of students and researchers from abroad, as well as to extend the breadth and depth of its international networks. To this end, we are initiating international research cooperation and intensifying those that already exist. And we are working closely with our liaison offices in China and India, with our growing alumni network around the world, and not least with the international community of students and researchers currently hosted in Göttingen.
The International Student Service
... offers international students, scientists and scholars a wide range of services and support. International students are advised on application and visa procedures before they come to Göttingen. They receive help with finding accommodation and on request can be met upon arrival. Once here, they receive invitations to numerous introductory, social and cultural events.
The Welcome Centre
... is the University’s central service facility for internationally mobile academics. It assists and supports them and their families in preparing for their stay in Göttingen and settling in once they are here. Information is provided on matters associated with their academic work, and targeted assistance is given on all non-academic topics such as finding accommodation, childcare and how to apply for a residence permit. Additionally, a Dual Career Service is available to newly appointed professors.
The liaison offices
... in Pune (India) and Nanjing (China) increase the visibility of the Göttingen Research Campus in these countries by working closely with national partners, as well as promoting and initiating exchange of faculty and students.
