Summary:
In gamification (using game-like elements in a non-game context) research, many ambiguous and contradictory results are achieved. Previous research has shown that some individuals are motivated primarily by human interaction and teamwork. However, it is still unclear to what extent a human-like interaction through a chatbot can fulfill this function. Therefore, this project will investigate how the perceived humaness and social presence of a chatbot can affect the motivation of employees.
