Exzellenzinitiative: Göttingen Graduate School in DFG Video Portal
Göttingen Graduate School in DFG Video Portal
The Göttingen Graduate School for Neurosciences and Molecular Biosciences is promoted in the Excellence Initiative of the German Federal and State Governments. It counts more than 350 PhD students and 180 faculty members, including a Nobel Prize laureate and several Leibniz prize awardees. The graduate school is based on the cooperation between six faculties of the University of Göttingen, three Max Planck Institutes, and the German Primate Center. In total, 12 different PhD programs are united under the roof of the GGNB.
The PhD students of the GGNB work in a wide array of academic disciplines, ranging from the structure and function of particular biomolecules to molecular physiology of the brain and the physics of biological systems. In addition to their scientific research, the PhD students can choose from a diverse range of courses including method courses and the training in professional skills such as scientific presentations, project and team management or career planning.
The young scientists are individually supervised by a “thesis committee” comprising three members of faculty who advise and support the students throughout the course of their doctoral studies.
In five minutes the film presents the GGNB and the daily routine of the PhD students. The Video Portal of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) invites you to learn more about outstanding research promoted by the Excellence Initiative: experience science in action by watching the project films and reading up on the fascinating topics.
