A truly international course of study: a double degree programme in international economics in cooperation with the Rijksuniversiteit, Groningen
Please note: At the beginning of the winter semester 2019/ 2020, the name of the master programme offered by the University of Groningen will be changed to "Economic Development and Globalization" (M.Sc.).
In the winter semester of 2010/ 2011, the University of Göttingen Faculty of Business and Economics launched a double degree programme with the University of Groningen Faculty of Business and Economics, Netherlands. In four semesters, students can now simultaneously earn a M.A. in international economics from the University of Göttingen and a M.Sc. in economic development and globalization from the University of Groningen.

The application process requires candidates to apply for the M.A. in international economics programme at the University of Göttingen and apply simultaneously to participate in the double degree programme with the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, Netherlands.
The double degree programme is structured so that students spend two semesters in Göttingen and two semesters in Groningen. In Groningen, students will write their master's thesis in the 4th semester, which is supervised by a faculty member from both universities. As a graduate of the programme, students attain degrees in two accredited master's programmes from two renowned European universities rich in tradition:
- "M.A. in International Economics" from the University of Göttingen
- "M.Sc. in Economic Development and Globalization" from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, Netherlands
The double degree programme is an excellent opportunity to earn an internationally-oriented degree. It also opens up excellent career possibilities in multinational business, national and international organizations, as well as further academic possibilities such as international Ph.D. programmes.
