The Germany Scholarship: Recognition and support for outstanding achievements and special commitment

The Germany Scholarships at university of Göttingen, are intended to provide financial support to gifted students and applicants from all nations (irrespective of their income) and the scholarship unites scholarship holders of all faculties, alumni and sponsors of the University of Göttingen.

Current information
The award round of the Deutschlandstipendium 2024-2025 covers the period 1.10.2024 to 30.09.2025.
The next application period with a complete digital application is therefore from 1 September 2024 to 1 September 2024.

Who can apply?
All students regularly enrolled at the University of Göttingen can apply. However, doctoral students and exchange students are excluded.
Applicants who are not yet enrolled at the University of Göttingen must be enrolled and have a student account before applying for a Deutschlandstipendium 2024/25.

BAföG recipients can also be supported by the Deutschlandstipendium, since BAföG and the Deutschlandstipendium can generally be claimed simultaneously without deductions.

Previous scholarship holders can reapply for a Deutschlandstipendium at the end of the one-year award period.

Doctoral/phd students and exchange studentsare not eligible.

funding period
The funding period is from 1st October of the year of grant to 30 September of the following year.
In the case of successors, the period of support is adjusted individually.

selection criteria
Not only outstanding achievements at school or university or success already achieved in employment count; the applicant's previous personal achievements are just as decisive:
- Have you already won a prize or an award for special achievements?
- Have you distinguished yourself by outstanding commitment in a social, municipal or political organization?

Applicants are expected to show social involvement, motivation and readiness to accept responsibility.

Consideration will be given to applicants who have had to overcome special barriers in their biographies due to familial or cultural origins (for example, single parent or earning your living entirely by yourself?)

If you meet one of the eligibility criteria, we look forward to receiving your application for the next round in the winter semester 2024/2025.

Important: An application does not automatically result in the receipt of a scholarship!

private funding from sponsors
In addition to financial support through the scholarship, there is also the possibility of non-material support through the sponsoring companies, foundations, private individuals or the association of small donors.
Depending on the contact to the sponsors, the non-material sponsorship enables, for example, a look behind the scenes of a company, the completion of an internship or workshop or networking within the framework of contacts of the sponsors.

Scholarship holders will be notified of their sponsorship when they receive their approval notifications, including a link to the declaration of acceptance, which will be sent by email to the student's email address.
The declaration of acceptance of the scholarship also includes the consent or refusal to contact the sponsors.
The Fundraising Team of the University of Göttingen will then, if desired, establish contact with the sponsors and also organise a special supporting programme during the sponsorship period, which includes the following activities and events, among others:
- A "Stammtisch Deutschlandstipendium" (regulars' table) to exchange ideas across disciplines,
- Events within the framework of an "Engagement Academy" with a certificate of completion,
- Support for networking with supporters of the University to develop a network for personal development and professional careers,
- Joint participation in sporting events, etc.
