STIBET for doctoral candidates

Scholarship and support programme for international doctoral students

The STIBET programme of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) promotes the integration of international doctoral students in teaching and research at German institutes of higher education.

The International Student Services office coordinates this programme at the University of Göttingen in close cooperation with the three graduate schools GGG, GSGG and GAUSS with GGNB.

The graduate schools make use of the support provided by STIBET on various levels:

  • The social sciences and humanities offer a joint help desk for international PhD students as a contact point and for support in any personal or study-related questions.
  • The International Göttingen Graduate School for Neurosciences and Molecular Biosciences (GGNB) within GAUSS offers their doctoral students over 150 subject-specific, methods courses plus a broad spectrum of extra-curricular offers (key qualifications, German and English language courses, and other offers). GGNB also offers comprehensive support concerning administrative issues.
  • All graduate schools organize numerous subject courses as well as intercultural events and excursions to allow a good start and facilitate integration in Göttingen.
  • Integration into the scientific community and the qualification of international doctoral students is promoted by initiating tandems as well as awarding scholarships for lectorate, teaching and research assistantships.

The offers for international doctoral students can be found at the respective graduate school.

Each doctoral student is member of one of the graduate schools depending on his/her dissertation subject.
