Research Interests
I am fascinated by the complexity of ecosystems and my research focus is to factorize abiotic and biotic drivers of its vegetation composition to understand the underlying processes, mainly in the tropics. Furthermore, I am very interested in transmitting this ecological knowledge to the elaboration of solution approaches in reasonable nature conservation that takes into account human’s welfare. Finding the balance between nature conservation and agriculture, antagonists in many regards, is one of the most urgent challenges for the future. At the moment, I work on a biodiversity enrichment experiment in a monocultural oil palm plantation in Sumatra, Indonesia
