General information

For the use of the funds for study quality strict rules apply that are recorded in the university-wide guidelines for the use of funds for study quality. In addition to substitution interdictions (funds for study quality cannot substitute regular budget funds) and capacity neutrality (personal that is being paid from funds for study quality cannot be evaluated capacity-effectively) transparency is the most important act. A speciality of Göttingen is the institutionalised strong participation of students in all ranks at the distribution decisions. Central means, that are currently 50% of the gains from funds for study quality, are allocated to the facilities of the university by application. The central commission for teaching and learning (zKLSplus) decides about the applications from faculties and central service facilities. The faculties get the other 50% of the means for the use for local measures. Crucial committees are the committee of study affairs, also with 50% participation of students, the faculty council as well as the presidential board.

Ideas and proposals for new measures

Ideas and proposals for new measures are always welcome!

If you have a proposal, you can approach the study officer (mathematics). The study officer helps and advises with the composition of applications, communicates the right contact person in the department and gives support for filling out the form. He supports the applications in the decision committees and accompanies the execution of the measures. Local measures can also directly be filed online.

Realized central measures of the mathematics department

The mathematics department initiated a series of central measures; focus is the improvement of the basic education in the subject mathematics. The biggest project is the mathematical propaedeutics course: It bridges between the education of school and university mathematics and facilitates the tough transition for students.

Realized local measures

Far more than half of the local measures of the mathematics department goes in additional exercise groups and examination courses, in which the material of the lectures is being repeated and learned and deepend with the help of exercises. Further measures are the extension of the opening hours of the reading room of the mathematicam institute, additional courses in the area of technical didacticts and the participation in the project "professionalisation of the offices of the deans of studies".
