Dr. Christiana Werner

Christiana Werner studied Philosophy, German Literature and Ancient History at the Universities of Duisburg-Essen and Turin (Italy). She received her doctoral degree from the University of Regensburg in 2012 for her thesis on fictional speech and fictional characters. She was member of the DFG-funded Research Group "Knowledge and Meaning in Literature". Since 2013 she has been a member of the Junior Research Group "Language, Cognition and Text" at the Graduate School of Humanities Göttingen, at Göttingen University.
Her current research project is entitled "Who's afraid of fictional characters? On the intentional objects of emotions felt when reading fictional texts". It concerns the question of whether fictional characters can be intentional objects of emotions, a question the answer to which has implications both for the theory of fiction and for the theory of emotions.
