Application in 7 Steps

Application in 7 Steps

This description is for ERASMUS+ students and students from partner universities who would like to study in Göttingen within the framework of a partnership. Please note the dates and deadlines.

1. Apply via your home university
In order to enrol at the University of Göttingen as an ERASMUS or student from a partner university, you must first apply to the exchange programme through your home university.

2. Fill out the online application form
Register as an exchange student in Göttingen via the online application form. Please note the following deadlines:

1st of June for the winter semester
1st of December for the summer semester

Late applications are possible, but may not be considered for accommodation services.

3. Print out the registration form
After entering your data, please print out the registration form. Correct any incorrect entries, complete the form and sign it.

4. Send the form by mail
The representative of the programme at your home university must confirm the nomination, sign it and then send it to the respective contact person in Göttingen, who will then inform us about your application. If you do not know the name of the contact person for your programme here in Göttingen, you can mail or fax the application to Christiane Seack (International Student Services, see “Contact”). You will then receive a “Notification of Admission for Short-term Studies" at the University.

5. Apply for a Visa (for non-EU residents)
Students from non-EU states will receive a notification of admission after the University has received your registration by mail. This confirmation is needed to apply for a visa for your stay in Germany.

6. Attend an introductory event in Göttingen
At this event you will receive basic orientation before your studies begin (enrolment, insurance, registration, bank account, etc.).

7. Submit enrolment documents
Enrolment will take place at International Student Services (Christiane Seack) after you have arrived in Göttingen. You will receive the necessary documents during the introductory event.

Note: These instructions apply only to exchange students. International students who are not in an exchange programme (e.g., degree-seeking students) should follow the regular admission procedure.
