University of Göttingen condemns violence at Iranian universities

No. 48.2 - 06.10.2022

The Presidential Board of the University of Göttingen is concerned about the increasing violence against university staff and students who are peacefully demonstrating in Tehran and other Iranian cities. The University of Göttingen condemns the closure of universities as well as the suspension of courses and endorses the statements of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Rectors' Conference (HRK).

We take our social responsibility seriously as a University and see ourselves as an international University committed to achieving equality and overcoming all gender-related, ethnic, cultural, social and religious discrimination – as per our mission statement. "In publica commoda – For the good of all" means to us that we stand in solidarity with all members of the international scientific community who peacefully stand up for human rights and freedom and oppose oppression and discrimination.
