Supplementary qualification for all other BA courses of study in the Faculty of Philosophy (Module Package II, 18 credits)

The module package can be begun in either the summer or winter semester. In the first semester of the package the module Intercultural German Studies is taken, consisting of a lecture and a seminar and concluding with a written examination as assessment. In the second semester the module Didactics of Foreign Languages is taken, consisting of two seminars (that is, two seminar series) and as assessment an oral examination. In the same semester a work experience / internship is undertaken as part of the practical module component. Module assessment is via a report on the work experience / internship and a presentation. On successful completion of the module package students are awarded a certificate.

    1. Semester: Intercultural German Studies Module

  • Overview of Intercultural German Studies / German as a Foreign or Second Language
  • Introduction to the Intercultural Didactics of Foreign Languages / German as a Foreign or Second Language, with practice classroom teaching
  • Seminar accompanying self-study of advanced texts complementing the lectures.
  • Module assessment: written examination




    2. Semester: Didactics of Foreign Languages I Module

  • Research into language teaching and acquisition
  • Cultural mediation
  • Module assessment: oral examination




    2. Semester: Practical studies module in language and culture mediation

  • classroom work experience / internship
  • Preparation for the work experience / internship, together with follow-up
  • Module assessment: report on the work experience / internship (max. 10 pages) and presentation (10-20 min.)
