Organizations for internship placements

There are multiple organisations that facilitate or offer internship positions. Many of these organisations offer financial and other ongoing support throughout the internship. The following list provides a selection of differing organisations for internship opportunities.

  • Agrecol
    Agrecol is an association for promoting land use in Africa, Asia, Latin America and East-Europe. Agrecol offers annual travel scholarships to these regions.

  • CIAT
    The "Centro Internacional de Agricultura Tropical" is an international Agricultural research centre, that develop technologies and methods to aid farmers in developing countries to improve their farming. The goal being the fight against hunger and poverty in the tropics.

  • CTA
    The "Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation" is a collective Institution of the ACP Countries and States (Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Group of the States) and the EU. The CTA works as a contact and consultant for the ACP Countries and States to aid in the fight against hunger and poverty and to improve the natural resource management. The headquarters is located in Wageningen, in the Netherlands, and another office of the CTA operates in Brussels, Belgium.

  • EIRENE
    EIRENE is an international non-profit ecumenical peace and development service, where volunteers and professionals work together with partner organisations worldwide, to promote a culture free of violence, with social justice and the preservation of creation. EIRENE supports sustainable development projects, and programmes of civilian conflict management in Africa and Latin America.

  • FAO
    The "Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations" is employed with the security of global food supply, including the improvement of production and distribution of agricultural products along with the prevention of poverty and hunger.

  • FiBL
    The "Forschungsinstitut für biologischen Landbau" (Research Institute for Biological Agriculture), based in Switzerland, Germany and Austria, is involved in the research, development and consultation of biological farming. Each year, there are a number of Internships listed in the differing research groups.

    The "Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit" (Society for International Cooperation) offers an exchange and scholarship programme for youth throughout their education.

    The "International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience" is an international, un-political and independent organisation for the arrangement of internship positions in foreign countries.

    The "International Farm Youth Exchange" is an international youth country exchange with the USA and Scandinavia. The IFYEs live with host families and are given the opportunity to experience and discover the host country.

    "Ayusa-Intrax" is a commercial company that provides internship positions on farms in Canada and New Zealand.

    The "Deutsche Bauernverband" (German Farmers Association) offers numerous possibilities to complete internships in all parts of the world, through the Schorlemer Foundation, and aids with mediation and financing.

  • Agrarpraktikum
    Agrarpraktikum (Agri-Internship) offers internships in Agricultural Sciences, Practical Agriculture in Germany and abroad. Individuals work in projects and complete subprojects individually, providing a deeper insight into the given task area.

  • ASA-Programme
    Participation within the ASA program includes seminars, and a three- to six-month project internship with a focus of global learning. All three programme points are coordinated with the others and build upon the others. ASA is synonymous with Learning- Experiencing- Moving. Apart from a few exceptions, participants partake in the programme in teams of two to four people.
