How do I use copyrighted works according to section 60a UrhG?

Section 60a of the Copyright Act (UrhG) valid since 1st of March, 2018, allows the provision and use of copyrighted works within the context of education at the university without first having to ask for permission. This applies to both images and texts e.g. articles from scientific journals and excerpts from books as well as excerpts from movies, pieces of music and notes.

However, this all-inclusive usage license is subject to restrictions, which have to be considered strictly. The following overview is meant to help you check, whether the intended use corresponds to the legal regulations.
