DAAD EPOS SCHOLARSHIP

Highly qualified professionals with international networks are important actors towards sustainable development of their countries and a better future with less poverty, more
education, and better health for all. Therefore, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with its DAAD EPOS scholarship scheme offers individual scholarships to rigorously selected students from the Global South to study development-related postgraduate courses at selected universities in Germany. The master programme Development Economics at the University of Göttingen is one of these programmes.

Under the DAAD EPOS scholarship, we can offer six to seven scholarships each year to students from countries of the Global South.

Please read the following information regarding application and admission to the MSc Development Economics through the DAAD EPOS scholarship carefully; it should address most of your concerns and queries.

Am I eligible for MSc Development Economics programme with the EPOS scholarship?

In order to be eligible for the EPOS scholarship, please note the following eligibility criteria:

• You must fulfil all the general programme requirements for the MSc Development
  Economics, as outlined here.


• Additionally, you must meet all eligibility criteria required by the DAAD, as outlined on the corresponding DAAD website.


• You need the required application documents for the programme with the EPOS scholarship.

How to apply?

Please note that as an EPOS scholarship holder, you can only start the programme in the winter term (October) of each year, and applications are only possible from October 1st through November 15th of each year.

If you wish to pursue a DAAD EPOS scholarship within the MSc Development Economics, you only have to apply once for both - the study programme and funding - directly at our university.

Online Application:

• 1. Create an account with your email address and preferred password on the Application Portal, which will open only during the application period and can be accessed on the Information on the Application and Admission Procedures webpage under “Application Form.” Enter the verification code that is sent to your email account. Make sure to keep your login data.


• 2. Once you have access to the Application Portal, complete your application profile with the required information. You complete the profile once, and it applies to all applications.


• 3. Once you have completed your profile, you will land on
  the homepage, where you choose ‘Regular Procedure’. This will direct you to a list of available programmes. You can find the "Development Economics with DAAD EPOS SCHOLARSHIP" under the list of programmes on the Application Portal and click on ‘Start Application’ to begin.


• 4. The application is a three-step process: acquired skills, further declarations and documents. Please ensure you fill in all requested information accurately and completely in the first two steps before proceeding to the next.


• 5. In the final step, you are asked to upload the required documents. Please note that you need to upload the documents required by the programme as well as the documents required by the DAAD (see Required application documents (EPOS)). Once all documents have been uploaded, click on ‘Submit Application’ to finalise your application. A successful submission is confirmed once the ‘Start Application’ button changes to ‘Application Submitted’ on the course list page.

Note: Please check your application materials for completeness before clicking on ‘Submit Application’ on the Application Portal. We cannot consider incomplete applications or those sent after the deadline. For a detailed overview and explanation, please refer to the application guide.

Interview Process:

• 6. Once the selection process is complete, shortlisted candidates will be invited to a virtual interview process (interviews will be about 15 minutes long).
