Doctoral students have always played a special role in the network of different status groups at Georg-August-Universität. While on the one hand you as a research assistant can belong to the academic staff, on the other hand you have to be assigned to the status group of students due to your doctoral status.

In order to do justice to this special situation of the doctoral students, the doctoral student representation was founded in the summer semester 2017 after long consultation and included in the basic rules of the university. Doctoral candidates have always been entitled to participate in academic self-administration and, in particular, to be consulted on doctoral issues and to make recommendations.

Among other things, the representatives sit as advisory members on the faculty councils and the spokespersons (or deputies) of the doctoral student representatives in the Senate and the Central Commission for Teaching and Studies (zKLS).
