Este TimeMachine

Contact: Prof. Dr. Martin Langner

The Este Time Machine focuses on an important collection of ancient sculptures and its reconstructed setting: 1804 in the Palazzo Catajo near Padova and 1904 in the Palais Modena in Vienna. In a cooperation project with the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, 494 ancient sculptures of the Este Collection, most of them unknown and unpublished, were scanned using photogrammetry, and are presented virtually. Visiting these virtual museums the user has the unique chance to experience the same antiquities in different but typical exhibitions of their time, on the computer as well as with Virtual Reality headsets. These virtual museums also provide visual access to the entries of the associated scientific catalogue database.
