Division of Plant Nutrition
Research and teaching in the Department of Plant Nutrition and Yield Physiology are geared towards expanding, improving and communicating scientific principles for healthy crop nutrition in agricultural cultivation systems. The sustainable use of soils, nutrients, water and other resources is of particular importance. At the same time, we pursue the goal of generating and communicating knowledge for high-yield crop production in which valuable food is produced and nutrient losses to the environment are minimised as far as possible. We deal with questions of nutrient dynamics in the soil, the uptake of nutrients by the plant, their translocation in the plant and their metabolic-physiological role, as well as aspects of increasing resource efficiency, environmentally sound fertilisation and promoting the biological value of the arable crops produced. The research topics and teaching content of the department are geared towards issues of regional, national and international importance.
