M.Sc. Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology
The Master's degree in "Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology" offers comprehensive training and qualifies you for a variety of different professional fields in forestry and timber management as well as in the environmental and nature conservation sector. The master’s degree serves to provide scientific in-depth knowledge in one of three main areas of study offered: forest management and forest use, forest conservation or wood biology and wood technology. In addition to compulsory modules, the course can be supplemented by a large range of electives, internships and stays abroad.
You choose between the following three majors: forest management and forest use, forest nature conservation and wood biology and wood technology. In addition to core-specific compulsory modules, you can customize your studies with a wide range of elective modules. You can choose, among other things, compulsory modules from other areas of specialization, specific elective modules in forestry, internships, foreign languages and key skills as well as courses from other related Master’s degree programs (e.g. agricultural sciences, biodiversity). The standard study period is four semesters. The master's examination consists of subject examinations that accompany the course, a project work and a master's thesis.
Forest Management and Forest Use
The major in "Forest Management and Forest Use" imparts the necessary knowledge and skills for the implementation of sustainable, multifunctional and efficient forest use and maintenance within the framework of modern forest management want to deepen in the classic forest area.
Forest Nature Conservation
The focus on "Forest Nature Conservation" qualifies for comprehensive use in all areas of activity of bio-ecology and nature conservation and at the same time ensures specialization in the forest habitat, its ecology, function and stress in the overall landscape structure. This focus is particularly suitable for bachelor's graduates in the fields of forest science, ecosystem management, ecology, biology, landscape planning and landscape architecture.
Wood Biology and Wood Technology
The "Wood Biology and Wood Technology" major focuses on the technological aspects of processing wood and renewable raw materials. This focus offers further qualification for bachelor's graduates in the fields of forest science and forestry, wood technology and timber management, biotechnology and bioengineering, materials science, renewable energies and renewable raw materials.
