Information about the results and findings reports from the CCS

► If the screening finds nothing of concern in your sample, you will automatically be notified of your result by email.

► If the screening finds that your sample was unusual (ie not clearly negative), the following two-stage procedure will apply:

1 You will first receive an email from the CCS project stating that your sample was unusual. This first email will not trigger any legal consequences as per Infektionsschutzrechts (infection protection law), but for legal reasons requires retesting with an approved, commercial test kit in the laboratory of the Institute for Medical Microbiology and Virology at the UMG. This first email will direct you to a link on the University website where you can find recommendations on what to do until the final result is available.

2 In these cases, the results and the notifications associated with them, which will have legal consequences as per Infektionsschutzrechts, are carried out by the Institute at the UMG alone. The medical report will also be sent automatically to your email address.

a) "Positive": if (as is generally the case) the unusual screening test is confirmed as positive in the follow-up test, the Institute will notify Göttingen’s Gesundheitsamt (public health department) in accordance with legal regulations and simultaneously send the final “positive” medical report to the test person concerned.
In these cases, all further steps and legal consequences are decided by, and remain the responsibility of, the Gesundheitsamt; additional information can be found on the University's website.
If, in individual cases, the unusual result from the screening is negative in the second test, the following findings can be communicated by the Institute:

b) "negative": no Sars-CoV-2 infection detectable in the second test, meaning no further legal consequences will follow and you are not considered to be infected.
From time to time, the following message is also possible, and please note that this is not equivalent to a positive result:

c) The nature of the material or the quantity are not suitable for carrying out the test to confirm the result: retesting by an approved test system could not be carried out in this case and the unusual CCS screening result could not be clarified.

Please note that in both cases b) and c), which are very unlikely, there has still been an unusual CCS screening result. In these cases, we therefore ask you to behave with particular caution in accordance with the infection protection regulations for the safety and protection of your fellow human beings and to get yourself retested very soon. Thank you very much! Such discrepancies can occur in individual cases, for instance due to the specific development of the viral load, depending on the time of the laboratory analysis in the CCS screening and the corresponding retesting.
