Content

The module is closely embedded in the professorship's research, especially in the areas of a) digital platforms and data spaces as well as b) digital service ecosystems. It includes several coaching and presentation sessions and follows a clearly structured milestone principle. In this semester, the topic “Prospects and Reality of Data Spaces” will be addressed. For further information, please refer to the module description. By participating in the seminar, students are enabled to independently write a scientific paper in Information Systems and to present and discuss the results. Furthermore, the seminar serves to prepare students for writing their Master's thesis.

Learning Objectives

After successful completion of the module, students are able to independently conceive and write a scientific paper in the research area of “Digital Ecosystems”. The focus is on the development of IT artifacts and theories in the areas of digital platforms, data spaces, digital services, and service ecosystems. In particular, students are able to:

  • independently identify, analyze, and structure a relevant research problem,

  • purposefully apply theories and methods for the analysis, evaluation, and design of data and service ecosystems,

  • transfer research methods of Information Systems as well as methods in the field of digital and service-oriented ecosystems to specific objects of investigation,

  • write a scientific paper independently and appropriately for the target audience,

  • actively incorporate critical-constructive feedback and use it for the further development of their work,

  • give a scientific presentation and discuss the results with the audience in a technically sound manner.
