Current medical law: ‘Violence in obstetrics – societal and victim perspectives’
On 11 February 2026 at 7 p.m. sharp, the Centre for Medical Law at Georg August University of Göttingen kindly invites you to the next edition of the ‘Medizinrecht Aktuell’ series. The event will take place online via Zoom and is scheduled to end at 9 p.m.
With our three speakers
Dr Marie von Hirschheydt, lawyer and lecturer at Jade University of Applied Sciences for Midwives,
Michele Kretschel-Kratz, social anthropologist and midwife, and
Katharina Desery, representing the Mother Hood e.V. association,
as well as our moderator Ulrike Geppert-Orthofer, President of the German Midwives Association e.V.,
we want to address the issue of violence in obstetrics, particularly from a social perspective and that of those affected. To this end, we will examine the form and frequency of violence, its effects, and the extent to which society and the law could counteract it.
The event is aimed at professionals from the fields of law, medicine and ethics, as well as anyone interested in current developments at the interface between healthcare and law. Participation is free of charge and takes place via Zoom.
We look forward to an exciting evening with stimulating discussion and warmly invite you to join us.
