We are delighted to welcome Val Meneau (they/sie/elle) as a visiting scholar at the Göttingen Diversity Research Institute. Val Meneau is a French trans non-binary multidisciplinary artist, researcher, and activist. They received a two-year Schrödinger Mobility Grant from the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and will be working at the Institute until the end of 2027. In their current science-to-public project www.queeringdancesport.com Val Meneau examines how women and queer people are affected by and deal with social norms regarding gender and sexuality in competitive ballroom dancing, also known as DanceSport. It also highlights ways in which the world of dance sport can be made safer and more inclusive for them.
