Current medical law: ‘Medical cannabis: between treatment and misuse’

On 1 July 2026 at 7.00 pm sharp, the Centre for Medical Law at Georg-August University of Göttingen cordially invites you to the next instalment of the ‘Current Issues in Medical Law’ series. The event will take place online via Zoom and is scheduled to end at 9.00 pm.

Featuring our three speakers

Franziska Katterbach, a lawyer specialising in life sciences, with a focus on the regulatory framework for medical cannabis,
Prof. Dr med. Kirsten Müller-Vahl, Executive Senior Consultant at Hannover Medical School, and
Dr Andre Said, Executive Director of the German Pharmacists’ Medicines Commission,

as well as our moderator Prof. Dr Gunnar Duttge, member of the Centre’s Executive Board and Head of the Department of Criminal Medical and Bio-Law at the Georg-August University of Göttingen,

we will be examining the current legal framework governing medical cannabis and its impact on society. Does it offer a therapeutic option, or is the current regulatory framework being abused? To this end, we will look at the benefits of medical cannabis, the current legal situation and how it is evolving, and what impact this actually has in practice. Should the legal framework be reformed, and if so, to what extent?

The event is aimed at professionals from the fields of law, medicine, pharmacy and ethics, as well as anyone interested in exploring current developments at the intersection of healthcare and the law. Participation is free of charge and takes place via Zoom.
