Assessment of leaf area index and canopy openness across four land-use systems in Jambi Province Sumatra, Indonesia

The study aims at investigating the leaf area index (LAI) in four different land-use systems, comparing riparian with well drained sites, and identifying the relevant site-specific factors
(climatic and stand variables) across the LAI estimation.

The following research questions will be addressed:

1. Are the LAI values comparable among the four land use systems (forest, jungle rubber, monoculture rubber and oil palm plantations)?
2. How is LAI correlated with climate and stand structure (tree diameter and height)?
3. What are the influencing site factors (climatic & stand variables) affecting the LAI estimation across the different land use systems?
