Dr. Carolin Landgraf

Carolin Landgraf was a PhD student and lecturer at the Institute. Her regional focus is East Asia, particularly South Korea, and she is especially interested in economic anthropology. Carolin studied anthropology, business economics and religious studies at Göttingen University and focused on the construction of national cohesion for international economic competitiveness in South Korea in her Master thesis. Her PhD thesis 'Aspiring to the Good Life in Seoul: Ethics and Economics in the Narratives of Young South Koreans', supervised by Prof. Dr. Elfriede Hermann, concentrates on young Seoulites’ lifestyles, values, ethical judgements and their use of money in current economic conditions. Carolin teached Bachelor and Master courses in social science including topics such as financialization, globalization and work, and further regional courses that introduce students to the East Asian region.
