Disputation

Please note that you must remain enrolled in the doctoral programme until the disputation.

When the reviews of your dissertation have been received by the Dean of Studies Office, then you will receive digital copies and a notification of the display period of the reviews and the dissertation thesis within the faculty. The disputation can take place after the end of the deadline. For this purpose, the doctoral candidate and all examiners involved agree on a joint date for the disputation, which is communicated to the dean of studies. The dean of studies then sets the date for the disputation.

Disputations are usually carried out in person, but can also be carried out digitally or hybrid, especially in the case of external reviewers or examiners. Disputations are public events at the university and are published on our website.

After a successful disputation, the last step is publication. Please refer to our Publication Guidelines.
