Dr. Alexander Zawacki

Curriculum vitae

Alexander J. Zawacki studied medieval literature at Bangor University and received a PhD from the University of Rochester, where he was for two years an Andrew W. Mellon digital humanities fellowship. He is head of ARCANAlab (Advanced Recovery of Cultural Artefacts with Non-invasive Analyitics) at SUB Göttingen, which uses multispectral imaging (MSI) and related technologies to digitally restore damaged and illegible manuscripts and other cultural heritage objects. His research focuses on issues of interpretation in the middle ages, particularly at the intersections between religion and the supernatural.
