Race at the edge of the Sun: ions are faster than atoms
Astrophysicists observe physics phenomena in gas streams - Ions move faster than atoms in the gas streams of a solar prominence. Scientists at the University of Göttingen, the Institut d'Astrophysique in Paris and the Istituto Ricerche Solari Locarno have observed this. The results of the study were published in The Astrophysical Journal.more ...
The Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Göttingen is currently hosting three new researchers with an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation grant. The chemists Dr. Yang Liu and Prof. Dr. Hua Guo from China and the physicist Prof. Dr. Liv Hornekaer from Denmark can use the sponsorship to implement research projects at two institutes of the Faculty. Funding for network
The European Social Fund and the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony will support the project "Training Compass Chemistry - Designing Sustainable Transitions" from April 1, 2020. The Faculty of Chemistry is increasingly networking with local companies and educational actors to support chemical laboratory assistants who want to study chemistry and vice versa students who want to switch to a more practice-oriented education. In the network, accompanying consulting tools and reliable recognition channels for services rendered are to be developed.
News from the faculty
The Virtual Lab is an internet platform to support the teaching of chemistry. The common working techniques in the laboratory are explained and illustrated in the form of short films.
