Jonathan Yainishet, M.A.

Jonathan Yainishet is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology with an interest in the political anthropology of East Asia in general and transborder dynamics on the Korean peninsula in particular. He studied anthropology and philosophy in Heidelberg, Arizona, Göttingen, and Seoul. In his PhD project with the working title “South of the Future: Time and Land in the Korean DMZ" he studies the issue of land ownership against the background of the Cold War division of Korea.

Jonathan is a doctoral fellow of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (German Academic Scholarship Foundation).
