At the Top of the Rankings

CHE University Ranking
The Faculty of Business and Economics does very well in the current ranking of the Centre for Higher Education Development ("Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung" - CHE) of 2020 and is in the top and middle group with the evaluated fields of Business Administration, Economics and Business Information Systems (bachelor's and master's degree programmes). Students in particular are very satisfied with their overall study situation and rate the faculty above average in the student survey:

According to the CHE, the ranking is the most comprehensive and detailed university comparison in the German-speaking world, with around 120,000 students surveyed and more than 300 universities and universities of applied sciences ("Fachhochschulen") as well as dual universities and universities of cooperative education ("Berufsakademien") examined.

In the current WirtschaftsWoche ranking of the most productive business researchers in the German-speaking world, Prof. Dr. Maik Hammerschmidt is ranked 75th (out of 3346 researchers). Handelsblatt ranking 2019
In the Handelsblatt (German business magazine) ranking 2019, German-speaking economists are evaluated based on their research strengths. Prof. Dr. Holger Strulik, holder of the Chair of Macroeconomics and Development Economics, is the highest ranking economist working in Germany. He ranks fourth overall, followed by Prof. Dr. h.c. Stephan Klasen, Ph.D. (Chair of Development Economics) and Prof. Dr. Helmut Herwartz (Chair of Econometrics) in 43rd and 62nd place. Hochschulranking 2019 of the WirtschaftsWoche - Göttingen Economics Ranked 8
On behalf of the business magazine "WirtschaftsWoche", the consulting firm Universum interviewed 650 HR managers across Germany to find out which universities (universities and universities of applied sciences) they preferred to recruit from and which criteria they paid particular attention to. In economics, the University of Göttingen was ranked 8th. In addition to the natural sciences and law, the ranking primarily refers to business-related subjects such as business administration and economics, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, business informatics and industrial engineering.
