  • 2000-2004, Research assistant in Special Research Field 496 „Symbolische Kommunikation und gesellschaftliche Wertesysteme vom Mittelalter bis zur französischen Revolution" at the University of Münster.

  • 2004 Dissertation in Modern History at the University of Münster, with the thesis „Gelehrtenkultur als symbolische Praxis. Rang, Ritual und Konflikt an der Universität der Frühen Neuzeit, Darmstadt 2006“. (awarded as "Historical Book of the Year 2008 in the Category of Modern History" by H-Soz-Kult).

  • 2004-2008, Assistant at the Historical Department at University of Münster, Chair of Early Modern History.

  • Summerterm 2008, Assistant Professor for Cultural History at the University of Giessen.

  • 2008-2010, Heyne Assistant Professor for Early Modern History, with main research field in Non-European History at the University of Göttingen.

  • Summerterm 2010, Appointed for a W3-professorship at the Martin-Luther-University Halle/Saale (rejected)
