Prof. Dr. Regine Eckardt

Within the field of formal linguistics Regine Eckardt’s main research interests focus on semantics, pragmatics and language history. In particular, she is interested in discourse information structure, focusing and backgrounding, language change initiated by reinterpretation, as well as in discourse structure, negation and polarity sensitivity. Since 2009, she has led the project “Pragmatic and Syntactic Theories of NPI Licensing” funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Regine Eckardt is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Semantics and of the Zeitschrift für Sprachwissenschaft. Since 2007, she has been elected member of senate of the German Research Council.
