Winterschool in Göttingen

The Winterschool of the Master's program "International Agribusiness and Rural Development IARD" took place from the 15 to 24 March 2015 in Göttingen. The event was attended by eleven IARD students of the class 2014/2015. The objective of this Winterschool was to exchange ideas and observations for the thesis proposals of the IARD students. The students could interact with the professors and also get from them valuable suggestions for improvement. On the other hand both groups of students (studying in Germany and Chile) were able to spend time together visiting historical places in Göttingen and Berlin.

The first part of the Winterschool consisted on the presentation of the thesis proposals and the discussion about further improvement with respect to the research questions, goals and survey design and data collection. In particular, the methodology played an important role in the discussions of the seminar. In addition, both groups of students were able to exchange technical information on the current topics of the agribusiness and rural development in Latin America.
The second part of the Winterschool included tours in the historic city-centers and attractions of Göttingen and Berlin. Additionally, the students visited several agricultural enterprises and farms. The main focus was on getting closer to the German agribusiness sector as well as the cultural and historical roots of Germany.
