How to get there

Frankfurt/Main international airport is a 2 h train ride. There are direct ICE (fast track) trains from the airport to Göttingen and several connections, where changing in Frankfurt/Main main station, Frankfurt Süd or Fulda is necessary.
Hannover airport is a small airport in Lower Saxony. It provides connections to some European cities. There are regional trains from the airport to Hannover main station and ICE trains from Hannover main station to Göttingen. The train ride takes about 1 hour.
By train
Göttingen is suited directly at the main north-south train axis and thus, can be conveniently reached by fast-track or regional trains. The Deutsche Bahn App (available for iOS and Android) or the Deutsche Bahn homepage is most convenient to check for and book train tickets. It also provides on-time tracking of the connection. You can book valid train tickets in the Deutsche Bahn App for every train even if it is not run by Deutsch Bahn itself but by other companies. No other app is required for public transport to or within Göttingen.
Regional bus/train
Public transport by buses are available at a regular scheme every 30 minutes and the timetables can be found in the „Deutsche Bahn App” or at the . The tickets for the buses can be bought in the Deutsche Bahn App, with the bus driver, or from vending machines at some bus stops.
Car
Arrival by car is not recommended, because the city centre of Göttingen is largely pedestrian zone with exceptions only for buses and bikes. There are only very limited parking slots nearby and parking costs are about 20 € per day. Please contact us, if you are planning to come by car.
