City trip to Goslar and visit of the brewery 2014

On October 16 we visited Goslar, a small town at the foot of the Harz Mountains, which has over 1000 years of history. The city centre is a beautiful sight with many old, timber-framed buildings and narrow, cobble-stoned streets. In addition to a great number of churches, chapels and monasteries, Goslar features the Imperial Palace (Kaiserpfalz) built in the 11th century, which was used as summer residence of the emperors for several centuries. Both the historic Old Town and the nearby Mines of Rammelsberg are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Even though we were only a small group, the trip was great and even the weather was friendlier than expected. After an informative and fascinating tour around the old town centre and the Kaiserpfalz we had a short break and enjoyed the last sunrays of the day. Then, brewmaster Odin Paul took us to the cellars of the brewhouse and introduced us to the art of brewing beer and the history of the brewhouse. The local specialty "Gose" beer was definately worth the try!
