Ramona Bechauf is a PhD fellow in the “Exhibiting Knowledge| Knowledge in Exhibitions” doctoral research group. She studied history, German literature and cultural heritage in Paderborn and Paris with a focus on museum studies and monument preservation. In her Master’s thesis, she analysed the exhibitions at the Holocaust memorials in Paris and Berlin with regard to their accessibility for domestic and foreign visitors. Her dissertation project takes up this thread and extends to include, among other things, the Polish perspective. Bechauf was a team member on the “WeSa” project organised by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as well as a research assistant in the Department of Cultural Heritage at Paderborn University. In 2017, she teamed up with Jürgen Scheffler to create the exhibition “Gehen oder Bleiben/To Leave or to Stay” at the Städtisches Museum Lemgo. This exhibition drew in part on the findings of her bachelor’s thesis and began touring South Africa in 2019.
