Campus-Institut Data Science (CIDAS)
On 22.05.2019 and 28.05.2019, respectively, the Senate and the Presidium decided by mutual agreement on the regulations of the "Campus Institute Data Science" (CIDAS) Göttingen (§ 41 para. 1 sentence 1 NHG in conjunction with § 26 para. 6 sentence 3 GO; § 37 para. 1 sentence 3 NHG in conjunction with § 26 para. 6 sentence 3 GO).
A founding executive committee was appointed by the executive committee: Prof. Beissbarth, Prof. Kneib, Prof. Mayer-Ahuja, Prof. Yahyapour.
The executive committee is supported by a management: still to be occupied.
The details on the admission of members and relatives are currently being prepared.
The first general meeting is planned for the winter semester 2019/20.
CIDAS is a central scientific institution of the University of Göttingen, which cooperates with its partners as part of the Göttingen Campus. The Campus Institute Data Science is a cross-method and cross-disciplinary institution that allows all relevant areas of data science to be brought together. It is located at the interface of computer science, statistics, mathematics and application disciplines and combines the latest method development with top international research in the location's profile fields. CIDAS pursues the goal of coordinating and implementing inter-faculty and campus-wide activities in research, teaching and transfer at the University, the HAWK and the Göttingen Campus in the field of data science.
The structure of CIDAS provides for three levels:
1. basics of data science
2. applied data science and computer science
3. social aspects of digitisation
CIDAS allows the gradual admission of new as well as existing professorships in the fields of computer science and data sciences.
