Visiting Professor at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University in Dubai

Before the outbreak of the corona crisis in Germany, Prof. Dr. Maik Hammerschmidt (photo below, second from the right) was a visiting professor at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) in Dubai. There he exchanged views with researchers* on the topic "Influence of cultural factors on the success of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)", in particular to learn how CSR is shaped by companies in the Arab world, i.e. what success factors apply to CSR initiatives there, and what differences there are to CSR in Western Europe. This is important in order to adapt CSR measures to the cultural requirements of the countries - for example, because religious aspects play a greater role in Arab countries such as the United Arab Emirates. In addition, he has been involved as an external reviewer and examiner in the defense of a dissertation on CSR.

The HBMSU is the only accredited Smart University in the United Arab Emirates and uses blended learning, i.e. a mix of online and face-to-face teaching, with a clear focus on online teaching. Many of the students are working alongside their studies.
