German Spring in Estonia

The current pandemic has interrupted international exchange, cooperation and mobility in an unprecedented manner. At the same time, the digitisation push we witness has enabled completely new possibilities. Both developments are especially true for research, universities and higher education in general. These challenges, however, can and should be understood as opportunities for change.
With the conference, we want to promote this understanding and, by bringing together the relevant stakeholders from higher education experts and policy makers to internationalisation practitioners to academics and students, want to contribute to the discussion on the future of European universities and higher education in general. During the conference, we will focus on the importance of digital competences among students and teachers for the internationalisation of higher education, on opportunities for research and development and on challenges and perspectives of the digitisation strategy of the ENLIGHT Network.

The aim of the conference is to identify new and sustainable ways to use digitisation as tool for enhancing research, teaching and the internationalisation of universities. If you are interested, listen to what our invited experts have to say by joining for the keynote or one of the expert panels or get involved by participating in one of the many workshop sessions on a broad range of topics ranging from virtual exchange and mobility schemes to open access, artificial intelligence and the digitalisation of health.

The conference is also the opening event of “Saksa Kevad” 2021 (German Spring), an annual month-long festival, organised by the German Embassy and the Goethe-Institut in Estonia together with Estonian partners, celebrating the cooperation and friendship between the two countries. This year, the festival is organised in collaboration with and support by the German state of Lower Saxony.
