Internships

As they are integrated in the mandatory module B.KAEE.07, internships of several weeks are an integral part of the KAEE bachelor's program. The optional module B.KAEE 301 offers the possibility to do an additional internship. In line with the variety of theories, methods and subjects of the discipline, the professional fields and therefore the scope of possible internship positions is multifaceted: museums, memorial sites, archives, newspaper, radio, television or online editorial departments, the field of public relations, NGOs, educational and research institutions as well as cultural and cultural tourism institutions, and many more. Internships can also be completed abroad. Please consult the internship advisor in this regard.

Generally, students are encouraged to look for internships on their own. For current job advertisements, please refer to the notices in the institute as well as the newsletter sent to all students.

If you have questions about the internship and its credits or need support in finding a suitable internship position, please contact the internship coordinator Dr. Torsten Näser.

Internship in the modules B.KAEE 7 and 301

B.KAEE 7: Practical Fields of KAEE
The internship, which is part of module B.KAEE 7, can be completed at any time, independent of the seminar "Practical Fields of KAEE", which is also part of the same module. It comprises 120 hours and can be completed in one go (corresponding to an 8-hour day in approx. 4 weeks) or project-related (over a longer period of time).
The internship must be completed through a written report, which will graded on a "pass" or "fail" basis. The report, including an internship certificate (copy) of the respective institution, has to be submitted to the internship coordinator Dr. Torsten Näser—either via the mailbox in the KAEE hallway in printed form, or, due to the pandemic, via e-mail (as one pdf document). He will also make the entry in FlexNow.

Note: Before submitting the report, please register in the course "Internship B.KAEE 7.2" (lecturer: Näser), which is permanently activated in FlexNow. Always include a statement of independence with your internship report as proof of registration in FlexNow.

B.KAEE 301: Practical Experience in KAEE
The internship to be completed as part of module B.KAEE.301 (according to the old regulations: B.KAEE.10; since the conditions remain the same, only 301 is referred to in the following; the same applies to students who are enrolled according to the old regulations and would like to take the internship as module 10) comprises 120 hours and can be completed in one piece (corresponding to an 8-hour day in 4 weeks) or project-based (over a longer period of time). The internship must be evidenced by a written report, which will be only graded on a "pass" or "fail" basis. The report, including an internship certificate (copy) of the respective institution, has to be submitted in printed form (examination performance has to be archived) together with all other performance certificates necessary for the successful completion of B.KAEE 301 (certificate of participation in an excursion of at least 2 days or in a symposium of at least 2 days or the institute colloquium) via the secretary's office to the internship coordinator Dr. Torsten Näser. He will also make the entry in FlexNow.

Note: Before submitting the report, please register in the course "Internship B.KAEE 301" (lecturer: Näser), which is permanently activated in FlexNow. Always enclose a statement of independence with your internship report as proof of registration in FlexNow.
