Instructions for writing your dissertation
Formal requirements
There are no specific rules for the layout of your dissertation. However, the content must comply with the requirements set out in Section 14 of the Doctoral Regulations:- Title page/back side
Please refer to Appendix 3 of the Doctoral Degree Regulations. The information specified there must appear on your title page.
- CV
Include a brief academic CV, usually in tabular form. Please ensure that you are discreet with personal information.
- Abstract German and English
- Transparency in the use of AI
As a researcher, you are obliged to make the use of AI tools transparent. Please refer to the university’s list of key questions on transparency in the use of AI. Further details can be found in Appendix 2, linked on the right-hand side.
- Authors' contributions
Most academic journals already require manuscripts to list the individual authors’ contributions to the article. If this was not required for some of your articles, please include a corresponding overview.
