Department of Animal Sciences

The Department of Animal Sciences (DNTW)...

…deals with all aspects of livestock keeping, -nutrition, -breeding and -hygiene including aquaculture. Research interests range from applied studies, based on trials or field studies in partner companies, to molecular biological fundamental research. Its goal is to use innovative research approaches to allow for an efficient, resource-saving and animal-friendly production of animal produce of excellent quality and product safety. Next to its research in Lower Saxony (“Niedersachsen”), many research groups are integrated in national and international research co-operations as well as into research projects in the Tropics and Subtropics. In a large variety of national and international studies (for example B.Sc. Agricultural Sciences, M.Sc. Agricultural Sciences, M.Sc. Horse Sciences, PAG, SIA) the Department for Animal Sciences offers innovative teaching, like interdisciplinary compact modules of the different livestock species and research-oriented teaching.
