Agroecology

The Agroecology Group was founded in 1993. Research focuses on biodiversity and the composition of communities of plants and animals as well as plant-insect interactions. Pollination and biological pest control are analyzed in agroecosystems, with particular attention to the role of landscape structure in temperate and tropical regions. Interdisciplinary, socioeconomic-ecological projects analyze biodiversity-related ecosystem services and landscape management. Teaching in agroecology takes place in the agricultural study focus Resource Management, but attracts also students of biology, biodiversity, forestry and geography.
